How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

6.5 years with my main blog, and I’d dabbled with a craft blog before that.  I was on maternity leave and making cards and jewellery so started my own blog and website after reading

What do you wish you had known before you started?

That there was a parenting blogger community out there.  I’d have got on a lot faster if I’d known that – I only realised 6 months in having never really read blogs before I started one.

What one tip would you give to a new blogger?

Blog for yourself and not just with the intention of making money. Not everyone will be as successful as they might want, but if you blog because you enjoy it, you’ll find you’ll last longer and be more confident in the work you end up doing.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned since you started blogging?

How much there is to do outside of the writing if you want your blog to be read and you want to make it look professional.

What is the best thing about blogging?

Apart from the friends you can make, and getting your voice heard, there’s so many skills you learn.

What new skills have you learned since you started blogging?

So many.  SEO, photography, social media, wordpress with some html and technical understanding.

What is the most unusual thing you have done/received because of blogging?

I don’t usually take on particular strange items through blogging because I can’t be bothered with them. But an electronic book reader that you could record you reading the story to then tell your children was odd.

What has been your proudest blogging achievement so far?

Working with Water Babies who were lovely, and knowing as much if not more about blogging and social media than the social media manager at work.

What is your blogging goal for the next year?

Be consistently making enough profit to cover both blogs (I have a tendency to pay out way too much for courses and conferences), and have a bit extra leftover. I say no to a lot of brand work.

What will you be doing in 5 years time?

Hopefully still enjoying blogging, maybe doing a bit less day to day, and still feeling like I have my place in the blogging world

Will we see you at a BlogOn event this year?

Yes, I’ll be at BlogOn Toys in September

If Yes, What do you hope to learn more about at BlogOn?

Is it bad I’ve not really checked what’s on the schedule yet?  But I expect photography will be high on my list.
