How long have you been blogging and what made you start?
I started blogging in 2015 when I was on maternity leave. It was something to do during the long nights of breastfeeding and I started off reviewing products I bought for my son, Lucas, or we were given as gifts from friends and family
What do you wish you had known before you started?
How much time it takes, writing is a small part of it, there is so much time taken up on social media promoting your posts, time keeping on top of your website to ensure it’s up to date, not being hacked etc. People trying to logon to my site has got to be the thing that has most irritated me this week and I was hacked by a pharmaceutical site last week
What one tip would you give to a new blogger?
Don’t expect to get paid work overnight or an easy way to get ‘free’ products. Enjoy building up your blog for you and don’t compare yourself to others
What is the most surprising thing you have learned since you started blogging?
What a big community it is. How many friends I have made, I talk to people on a regular basis online and from starting off as advising and helping each other on our blogs, we have formed real friendships where I could turn to them for anything to do with my ‘real life’
What is the best thing about blogging?
The opportunities it has given us, it helps pay the bills whilst I still get to stay home with Lucas, rather than working full time. We have also had some amazing experiences, days out and short breaks that we wouldn’t have done without my blog.
What new skills have you learned since you started blogging?
How to set a website up and all the techie stuff that comes with that. My social media and negotiating skills have improved
What is the most unusual thing you have done/received because of blogging?
I don’t know, I can’t think of anything unusual. I suppose meeting the Teletubbies could count, we met them at a press showing and we were in the room with some Manchester celebs
What has been your proudest blogging achievement so far?
I think the amount of places I’ve been able to take Lucas to and experiences we’ve had as a family
What is your blogging goal for the next year?
I’m so grateful to have already achieved my goal and we are going on a 4 night press trip in May
What will you be doing in 5 years time?
Most probably crying that we are thinking about high schools! Im not quite ready for Lucas to start school in September
Will we see you at a BlogOn event this year?
Yes, it will be my fourth one
If Yes, What do you hope to learn more about at BlogOn?
Photography skills with my phone
