How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I’ve been blogging on and off over various different places for at least 15 years. But Life As Mrs D has been running for just over 4 years now. I started it because I was bored one weekend, to be totally honest!

What do you wish you had known before you started?

That there are so so many plugins etc that can help improve your blog and make it so much better!

What one tip would you give to a new blogger?

Write for yourself, not what you think other people want to read.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned since you started blogging?

That there is a whole host of wonderful communities online that can support you and give you advice on blogging, and life in general!

What is the best thing about blogging?

The people you meet through it, whether it’s readers, brands, PRs, or other bloggers in the online communities and conferences you attend.

What new skills have you learned since you started blogging?

I’d like to think that my writing style has improved a lot. I recently read back through my first few posts and they made me cringe!

What is the most unusual thing you have done/received because of blogging?

I think all mine have been pretty normal to be honest. Some lipbalm and jelly beans weren’t exactly a highlight, but it was for a good cause!

What has been your proudest blogging achievement so far?

It’s a really lame one, but to be still blogging now. I am awful at starting something and not continuing with it, and now I am posting regularly, which is a huge achievement for me!

What is your blogging goal for the next year?

To start earning some good money from my blog, and to work with some fantastic brands

What will you be doing in 5 years time?

I’d love to be able to be earning enough money from my blog to class it as a job rather than just a hobby, and to be able to really contribute to the household bills, mortgage, etc.

Will we see you at a BlogOn event this year?

Definitely! I had reminders and alarms set so I was could get an Early Bird ticket for BlogOnX.

If Yes, What do you hope to learn more about at BlogOn?

I’m looking forward to attending the Getting Paid For Your Work? and the Blogging: the business and legal side of things sessions.
