How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I have been blogging for many years, I started my first blog on Live Journal 16 years ago as a way to just write about my daily life.  After Nathan was born I moved to Tumblr, then 7 years ago, whilst going through a divorce, I created my first blogger site, A Cupcake Mum and it continued from there.  Since I was a teenager I have always wanted to work in the field of journalism and blogging allows me to do that in my own way.

What do you wish you had known before you started?

To not try and be like other people. Your blog is an extension of you and that is why people love to follow you and keep up with what you do.

What one tip would you give to a new blogger?

Do not think that it’s an easy way to make a living and that in six months time you will know everything about blogging. It doesn’t work that way. It’s a hard job and a constant learning curve, and it’s very rare that you can leave a full time job to be a blogger full time, it’s not impossible but it doesn’t happen overnight.

What is the most surprising thing you have learned since you started blogging?

When I first started blogging I did not realise the doors that it would open for me and the opportunities that I would get along the way.

What is the best thing about blogging?

The community. I have made some life long friends through blogging and they have supported me so much through the difficult times in life. Blog On showcases that best with the community fund and how that help bloggers be the best that they can be.

What new skills have you learned since you started blogging?

My writing style has most certainly improved since my LiveJournal days.

What is the most unusual thing you have done/received because of blogging?

I have been offered a tour of the Fisherman’s Friends factory, that was when I knew I had reached some dizzy heights of blogging!

What has been your proudest blogging achievement so far?

Walking the red carpet at a movie premier in Leicester Square and attending the after party where I got to interview a very drunk cast. That was a pretty awesome night!

What is your blogging goal for the next year?

To get back into vlogging and grow my YouTube channel, collab with some other bloggers and to travel more.

What will you be doing in 5 years time?

Much of the same I am guessing. I will writing more about how to cope with teenager life, but I hope I am still doing what I lovem

Will we see you at a BlogOn event this year?

Yes! I am looking forward to actually making it this year, to be on time, have no car troubles or end up in hospital with meningitis! I am making sure that I’m there this time by staying in the hotel for two nights!

If Yes, What do you hope to learn more about at BlogOn?

Mostly to meet new bloggers and brands and to make new friends and contacts to work with in the coming year.

If you enjoyed this why not check out last weeks Meet the Blogger Susan K Mann.
